Our Founder, Justyna

As a personal trainer, lifestyle counselor and registered massage therapist, Justyna Kozlowska studies a holistic approach to health in order to combine and provide a traditional and balanced approach to a healthy lifestyle.

“My goal is to educate people on the mind-body connection. That vital relationship is what keeps you healthy, fit and pain-free. Everything is inter-related!”

Justyna at Lake Tahoe

In high school Justyna created a “healthy rum ball” that she shared with family and friends, and to her surprise was met with a very positive response. So, she decided to make something of it and after months of research and taste test experiments with her clients and friends she recreated that rum ball recipe into a nutrient-packed snack with very little sugar. And in came Inner J bars, made with pure, organic and raw ingredients. The bars are gluten and soy-free, contain no peanuts, dairy or egg. They’re also vegan, non-GMO and of course, low in sugar and high in protein. It’s like eating a very healthy two-bite brownie.

It comes as a relief to health care practitioners that there’s a growing awareness around the dangers of sugar to the body and brain chemistry. Avoiding sugar completely is a hard task. So, how does Justyna manage to stay away from fake sugars and fake ingredients?

“We all have our vices. We’re not perfect.”

Justyna abides by the 80/20 rule.

The 80/20 rule is mainly applied to eating but can also be applied to everyday life. It’s all about balance. So eating a well-balanced nutritious meal 80% of the time and leaving 20% wiggle room for food exploration. You can call them cheat days, cravings or favourite treats. They may not be as healthy but they’re just as delicious at the time of consumption. You don’t have to cut out whole food groups and become hung up on counting calories.

As Justyna puts it,

“Let’s embrace real food as it’s meant, for nourishment and not denial. Moderation is the key.”

Justyna is passionate about LIFE! And health. And inspiring change in others to control and take charge of their own health.

“Life is too short. We must be grateful for what we have, and do the best we can with it. It’s a gift that is in the palm of our hands. Everyday we are faced with choices that have an affect on our quality of life and lifestyle. The actions you take now, no matter how small, are never wasted. They’re just a stepping stone to bigger dreams, goals, aspirations and opportunities.”

When you’re the creator of delicious, wholesome bars you have the right to choose a favourite. While she loves them all equally, Justyna tends to go for the Almond Coconut with cacao nibs because of its extra crunch. And when paired with frozen yoghurt tastes like a brownie (without all the guilt).
